Going To the Boon –Docks? Don’t forget your camera!
Summer is just around the corner so, if you want to enjoy the desert, now’s the time to do it. Don’t forget to take plenty of water with you, and, by all means, don’t forget your camera. Granted, there hasn’t been enough rain to produce the wild flowers that should be present at this time of year, but there’s still a lot to capture on film. Living as close to the White Tank Mountains as I do, I’ve been spending a lot of time out there enjoying the desert. The one thing that I’ve found is that there’s no lack of things to photograph. The Ocotillo’s are in bloom, as are some of the smaller cacti. The stately Saguaro are just beginning to put out blooms and pretty soon, I hope, the Mesquites will have flowers to enjoy. Unfortunately, as I said, the wild flowers that usually are in full bloom by now haven’t shown up yet. But, don’t let the lack of wild flowers deter you from taking a hike, or a drive over desert trails. Look around you. There’s an abundance of beauty and natural wonders everywhere. From the smallest insect to the biggest mountain, there’s always something unique and wonderful worthy of a photograph. Maybe it’s a dead tree, all twisted and bare, that catches your eye. Or maybe it’s just the way the sun plays on a Saguaro or a cloud formation over a mountain that stands out. Whatever it is, it’ll be gone all too soon. But, if you have that picture it’ll last forever.
